“Golden Triangle” Accelerates Reindustrialisation in Hong Kong
The Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) jointly organised the “Accelerating Reindustrialisation in Hong Kong and Theme Hall Opening Ceremony”, supported by the Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC) of the HKSAR Government, to outline the best strategies and available support for enterprises to realise reindustrialisation on 17 March 2021.
As ITC, HKPC and HKSTP are all committed to promoting reindustrialisation in Hong Kong, today’s collaboration is another fine example to the efforts of different stakeholders to provide four essential support covering finance, infrastructure, technology and talent development to facilitate reindustrialisation. The forum and theme hall opening are also the second signature events under HKPC’s “Make Smart Smarter” theme of the year campaign.

Smarter Era of Intelligent Manufacturing Launch Ceremony
Wisdom is the key to Hong Kong’s success! The “Smarter Era of Intelligent Manufacturing” held on 26 February, 2021, in hybrid mode to present the “Owl” intelligent production line under Industry 4.0 to the industry and the public marked the debut of our “Make Smart Smarter” event series. Through this event, guests and public could have a better idea on how HKPC helped client set up a new intelligent manufacturing production line with five SMART edges: Speed, Multi-function, Accuracy, Reliability and Traceability, to raise production efficiency. This showcase signalled a new milestone of Hong Kong reindustrialisation entering a more mature stage, and echoed the concept of “Make Smart Smarter” with a vivid proof of the great enhancement of overall productivity with wisdom. HKPC organises various events to enhance the knowledge of enterprises on reindustrialisation, in encouraging them to transform and upgrade in order to catch the high value-added industry bandwagon.
“OWL” intelligent production line
Committed to driving Industry 4.0, HKPC assists enterprises in transforming towards high value-added intelligent manufacturing, in a bid to inject cutting-edge technologies into industries for value creation and building a “smarter era of intelligent manufacturing”.
The “OWL intelligent production line” built by HKPC team and a local intelligent security product manufacturer, is a showcase of Hong Kong entering into the “Reindustrialisation” era, offering a successful example for HKPC’s theme of this year – “Make Smart Smarter”.
Reindustrialisation
Reindustrialisation, as advocated by the HKSAR Government, refers to the use of Hong Kong’s strong reputation in R&D, design and IP protection and innovative technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, new materials and smart production of Industry 4.0 (i4.0) to streamline manufacturing process for the development of high value-added industries and industry supply chains locally.

Funding Programmes
The Innovation and Technology Fund (ITF), administered by the Innovation and Technology Commission, aims to increase the added value, productivity and competitiveness of Hong Kong’s economic activities. The HKSAR Government hopes that, through the ITF, Hong Kong companies could be encouraged and assisted to upgrade their technological level and introduce innovative ideas to their businesses. There are different programmes under the ITF, providing funding support to reindustrialisation with an aim to address different needs in the development of advanced manufacturing.
